Evil-minded Osaka guitarist Atsushi Nakagawa formed Balzac in 1992 and immediately began playing shows around Osaka and Tokyo, practically ripping the souls from their audience. Nakagawa's sinister guitar work jack hammered all over the band's first self-released single, Evil Legendz.
Imagine the same bizarre energy that forced American punk legends The Misfits to do their thing tearing open a foul and evil portal to Osaka, and immediately possessing the souls of Nakagawa and the band. They called their hairstyle “Devil Rock”, and proceeded to ravage J-Pop, like marauding Samurai ripped on Jager/sake. Eventually Balzac were chosen to open for the Misfits' first tour of Japan.
In addition to his apocalyptic guitar prowess, Atsushi Nakagawa is an internationally renowned creator of maniacal collectable figures based on his band, and other unholy subjects. If these frightening curios interest you, check out Shocker, Balzac's Osaka shop.
