Born Bruce Anthony Johannesson in the Bay Ridge area of Brooklyn, New York, C.C. DeVille was first bit by the rock bug at the tender age of two while watching The Beatles perform on the Ed Sullivan Show. At 18, DeVille began studying music theory at New York University, but never completed his studies. Instead, he moved to Los Angeles in 1981 and played in various bands before auditioning for Poison. DeVille got the Poison gig, beating out a guy named Slash who went on to form another famous band.
DeVille co-wrote Poison's debut album Look What the Cat Dragged In with singer Bret Michaels. It included three hits, “Talk Dirty to Me,” “I Want Action,” and “I Won't Forget You.” Sales for the album topped two million copies, and gave DeVille the means to indulge in the wildest guitars and hairstyles imaginable. DeVille's wild guitar work is all over Poison's second album, Open Up And Say...Ahh! , which as rumors have it, caused teen girls to get back tattoos they now regret. C.C. now occupies his time acting in reality television and television drama shows, but he still has time to crank it up through his wall of Crate amps.
