It's been a tough but rewarding gig for Fletcher Dragge and his band Pennywise. Despite enough pain mixed with glory to make a captivating Behind the Music, they have persevered. Growing up as only kids in the beach towns of Southern California can, Dragge and his future band went to the same high school in Hermosa Beach, where they spent their quality time surfing and learning all things hardcore punk.

When the punk-revival of the '90s happened, Fletcher and the band were primed and loaded. Their natural blend of skate-punk-funk-metal rawked their debut EP A Word from the Wise—a slice of degenerate guitar riffage that led to a deal with Epitaph Records and the band's eponymous, full-length debut, which sold upwards of 200,000 copies. The band tours relentlessly, currently doing the Warped Tour and blasting punk rock anthems to inspire punters all over America.
